Aledo is a near-unanimous No. 1 while Stephenville just missed cracking the top 10 in the Associated Press 4A football poll.

The two-time defending 4A Division II champ Bearcats will be in Stephenville for both teams' season opener at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Bearcats received 24 of the 25 first place votes, with the other going to No. 2 Denton Ryan. Four-time defending 4A Division I champ Lake Travis is No. 3.

Stephenville received 33 points in the voting, eight less than No. 10 Waco Midway, which visits the Yellow Jackets in a Districdt 8-4A contest Oct. 28.
