Henderson Junior High suffered losses in two of its three 8th grade football games at Aledo last week.

The lone winning team from Stephenville was the 8th Gold club. Alex Landa scored on a two-yard run and Emmanuel Olvera added a 45-yard fumble return for a touchdown and a two-point conversion run to lead HJH to a 14-8 victory.

Izac Rojas and Keshawn Johnson also had fumble recoveries to help lead a stout defensive effort that was also highlighted by Blake Thompson, Tyler Vest and Brandon Daniels, who were all cited by coaches as standouts on that side of the ball.

Coaches named Landa, Noah Hobbs and Elias Emory as offensive standouts.

The 8th grade Jackets saw a close game turn into a rout as Aledo outscored them 28-6 after halftime. HJH went on to lose 48-14.

Stephenville’s only first half points came on a 65-yard kickoff return by Luis Luna followed immediately by a two-point conversion pass from B.J. Walker to Garrett Cole. Luna scored again in the fourth on a 55-yard scamper.

Logan Levisay had a fumble recovery for HJH, and coaches named Tyler Ferguson and Brandon Bledsoe offensive standouts and Ciriaco Miramontes and Rusty Ford defensive standouts.

The 8th Blue club from Stephenville was shutout 27-0 despite the play of offensive standout Luis Garcia and defensive standouts Luke Runyon, Jacob Lewis and Trevor Graham.
