E-T Staff Report

Tarleton State is ranked No. 11 in the nation according to the National Association of Basketball Coaches preseason poll released last week.

The Texans, who are also No. 8 in the Division II Bulletin's preseason top 25, lost only two players from last season's 24-8 squad that reached the regional semifinals. They also reached the championship game of the Lone Star Conference tournament.

No team from either the LSC or the South Central Region is ranked ahead of the Texans. LSC foes Central Oklahoma and Midwestern State are No. 18 and No. 20, respectively. Also from the region, Central Missouri of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Assocation is ranked No. 16.

Cal Poly-Pomona, which won the 2010 national title and advanced to the championship game in 2009, enters the season ranked No. 1.
