Tarleton Sports Information

RICHARDSON - The Lone Star Conference offiice named their tennis Players of the Week Thursday and announced Tarleton State’s Alicia Perez as the women's recipient.

Perez has helped the TexAnns to a No. 19 national ranking as the No. 1 singles player on the team and the #50 singles player in the nation. Last week, Perez defeated St. Edward’s No. 1 Paige Rachel 7-5, 6-0, despite Tarleton’s close loss to a very talented Hilltopper team. Along with Mariana Freitas, Perez was also a part of the No. 1 doubles team that defeated St. Edward's No. 1 duo 9-8, 7-5.

The freshman out of Marcia, Spain has been a major part of the TexAnns’ success this season, as Tarleton prepares to make a run at the LSC Championship.

This marks Tarleton's first player of the week accolade this season.

The TexAnns return to action on March 27 when they head to Nacogdoches to face Stephen F. Austin starting at 11 a.m.
