Tarleton Sports Information
Tarleton’s Eric Williams has been named to the Daktronics All-South Central Regional Second Team for the second straight season.
The Texan led Tarleton to an 18-10 record this season and the program’s eighth straight Lone Star Conference tournament appearance.
“Eric has been one of the top forwards in the nation for the last two seasons,” said Tarleton head coach Lonn Reisman. “He is an extremely dedicated young man who not only gives 100 percent during the games, but in practice as well.”
The senior from Long Beach, Calif. helped the Texans to a 43-17 record in his two seasons with the purple and white.
The Texan led the team in both scoring and rebounding with 12.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest. He recorded 11 double-doubles this season and scored in double figures in 23 of the 28 games in 2008-09. Williams had 14 games rebounding in double figures as well while leading the team in scoring in seven games and in rebounding 21 times. He was named a first team All-Lone Star Conference South Division selection this season.
Williams finished the season as the second-leading rebounder in the LSC, and was tops in the conference with 3.8 offensive rebounds per game. Williams’ rebounding total was the highest in the South Division by three rebounds.
"Our staff is very proud of Eric and his accomplishments,” said associate head coach Chris Reisman. “No doubt in my mind this all-region selection is well deserved. Eric has been a cornerstone of this program for the last two seasons and he has been an absolute joy to coach. His commitment and work ethic have been key factors in why he has received this award each of the last two seasons."
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
