DENTON - The Tarleton menís and womenís track and field teams competeted at the North Texas Open Friday in Denton and had strong performances in a number of events.

Tarleton had 16 individuals or teams finish in the top five of their events.

In the womenís 400 meter run, Derekia Coleman finished fifth (58.63).

In the womenís 800m run, Payton Shoush came in third (2:24.34), while Lindsey Hinton came in fifth (2:30.07). Hinton was also second in the 1,500m with a time time of 4:54.96.

In the womenís 100m hurdles, Shelby Terry finished fourth overall (16.17).

In the womenís 4x400m relay, the TexAnns had two teams finish in the top five with the ďAĒ team made up of Courtney Newsom, Jessica Ryan, Diamond Wilson and Danitra Marshall finishing second and the ďBĒ team made up of Paige Klein, Payton Shoush, Cheyenne Brooks and Shabrina McAdams finished third.

Rachel Wolf took in second in the high jump (1.55m).

On the menís side, Austin Griffin finished second overall in the 100m dash (10.71) while Jamal Mays followed closely behind in fourth (10.74).

In the menís 400m, Chase Graf came in third place (49.30) and John Morin was right behind him in fourth (49.50).

In the 800m, Brian Cooper finished fourth overall with a time of 1:59.84.

In the 1500m, Chris Hearell was fourth (4:05.03).

In the menís 4x100m relay, Tarletonís ďAĒ squad came in third and was composed of Travis Montgomery, Autstin Griffin, Jeff Smith and Jamal Mays.

In the menís 4x400m relay, the ďAĒ team also finished third and was made up of Aaron Donohue, Graf, Sherraud Roberts and Morin.

The Texansí and TexAnnsí next competition is the UTA/Bobby Lane Invitational Saturday in Arlington.
