Stephenville juniors Emilie Woerner and McKenzi Parham each finished in the top 10 of the District 8-4A cross country meet at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie Wednesday, qualifying them to compete in the 4A Region I championships.

Woerner placed fifth with a time of 13 minutes, 9 seconds while Parham was not far behind, finishing ninth in 13:28. They will compete in regionals at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Nov. 7.

The duo led the Honeybees to a fourth-place finish in the team standings. They were only eight points shy of reaching regionals as a team. Mansfield Timberview won the 8-4A crown with 41 points, followed by Crowley with 43 and Mansfield Timbervew with 84. Stephenville posted 92 points, followed by Granbury in fifth with 111. Joshua (125) and Arlington Seguin (225) rounded out the standings.

On the boys side, Stephenville was led by Mason Taylor in 20th with a time of 17:54. Walker Loyd finished 25th in 18:03.

The Jackets placed fifth as a team with 148 points. Legacy won the meet with 23 points, followed by Seguin in second with 46, Crowley in third with 74 and Granbury in fourth with 83. Behind the Yellow Jackets, Timberview (163), Joshua (205) and Everman (232) finished sixth through eighth.
