Special to the E-T
The Henderson Junior High volleyball “C” teams wrapped up successful campaigns last week.
The eighth grade Bees were especially successful, losing only two regular season matches. Included in their list a chievements is a championship when they topped De Leon, Joshua and Mineral Wells in their home tournament held at HJH on Oct. 24, and tying for second in tourney play in Graham.
Coach Georgia Hargrove said the Bees were successful because of hard serves that often landed untouched for aces, and because of their dominant hitting at the net.
Members of the eighth grade “C” team are Hailey Fritts, Abigail Harsley, Chelsea Bagget, Chelsea Hicks, Kendall Taylor, Ciara Dittfurth, Autumn Kidwell, Maranda Conatser, Hannah Harris, Kristin Jenkins, Emilee Carr, Rachel Hazzard and Kassie Marble.
The seventh “C” Bees came a long way, says Hargrove, and finished 4-2 in district play.
The coach said the Bees did a great job of hustling and moving their feet to dominate their competition.
Early in the season they had a strong showing the Graham tournament where they finished second. They followed that up with a third place finish in their home tournament.
Members of the seventh grade team are Shayna Roberts, Mikeala Lee, Nakoma Carley, Mallory Runyon, Elle Brinkely, Sara Gillispie, Allie Lewis, Bethanie Bouchey, Kaylie Winstead, Jae Wilson, Erin Baker, Aubrey Officer, Syndey Brown and Kaylie Hoggard.
Hargrove says she is looking forward to great things to come these athletes as they move into eighth grade next year.
