Three Stephenville ISD students placed high in the recent Texas Archery in Schools Tournament at the Waco Convention Center.
Ryan Marsh led the SHS boys, shooting a score of 270/300 to place 25th out of 568 shooters.
Brittany Haley led the SHS girls by hitting 238/300. She finished 60th out of 386 shooters.
Henderson Junior High was paced by Tyler Taegel, who hit 235/300 to place 67th of 411 competitors.
These students were part of a large group competing in the event as members of DíAnna Greenís two high school outdoor adventure classes and her junior high physical education class.
Star Arms maintains the school districtís archery equipment and the Evening Lions Club donated $1,360 to cover the entry fees for the 68 local youth who competed in the event.
Green encourages area residents to take part in the Upland Bird Extravaganzaís wild game dinner at City Limits at 6 p.m. on April 15, and the shooting events beginning at 8 a.m. on April 16 at the Horton Ranch. The event will help the SHS and HJH archery programs.
