A rowdy defeat of Fort Worth Dunbar has Stephenville right back where the Honeybees were when their season came to an end in 2007 – the area round of the Class 4A volleyball playoffs.

For Stephenville to extend this season past that mark, the Bees will need a defeat of former district rival Aledo in tonight’s 8 p.m. 4A Region I area championship at Granbury High School.

Stephenville, 22-17 overall, tied for second in District 8-4A and was the third seed from the league entering Tuesday’s bi-district clash with Fort Worth Dunbar.  The Bees made quick work of the the No. 2 seed from 7-4A, winning in three sets (25-11, 25-14, 25-16).

Aledo, champions of 6-4A, was just as impressive in a three-set bi-district sweep of Wichita Falls Rider (25-11, 26-24, 25-17).

One good team’s season will end tonight, while the other will advance to the regional quarterfinals.  The winner meets either 8-4A champ Mansfield Legacy or 5-4A
