With its playoff hopes on the line, Hico (7-3) came out with something to prove against the Millsap Bulldogs in the 2010 regular season finale at Tiger Stadium Friday, dominating all phases of the game in a 35-0 shutout that clinched a playoff spot for Hico.

Midway through the first quarter with Millsap deep inside Hico territory, the Tigers’ Dylan Turner picked off a Bulldog pass at the Hico 16-yard line and weaved his way through traffic all the way to the end zone for an 84-yard touchdown.

With a 7-0 lead, Hico took the ball after a three-and-out by Millsap and handed it off to Turner, who went around the right side for 7-yard touchdown. Turner was added another TD in the second quarter to put the Tigers up 21-0 at halftime.

The third quarter showed much of the same from the Tigers as they tacked on the final 14 points and continued to shut down the Millsap offense.

The win guaranteed the Tigers the third playoff spot from District 4-2A Division II, as Hico will travel to Saginaw to take on the Alvord Bulldogs (6-4) at Boswell Stadium next Friday. Alvord enters the postseason with the momuntum of back-to-back wins including a 9-7 defeat of Henrietta Friday night.
