Two Stephenville eighth grade football teams dominated Granbury Middle School Tuesday night.
The eighth grade Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead on their way to a 35-6 win.
Jarrett Stidham fired three touchdown passes, rushed for a six-yard TD and returned a punt 65 yards for a fifth score.
Ben Martin hauled in two of the scoring passes on plays covering 15 and 24 yards. The third TD strike was a 26-yarder to Dominic Ward.
Josh Gillespie and Brock Morrison each scored 2-point conversions, and Stidham provided the final point with a PAT kick.
Adam Saenz and Jake Rhodes led the defense as each recovered a Granbury fumble.
Other offensive standouts included Maddox Conger and Stetson Carlile.
Anthony Chavarria passed for two touchdowns to lead the eighth grade "Blue" team from Stephenville to a 22-6 defeat of the Pirates.
After a scoreless first quarter, Stephenville seized momentum with a pair of big plays in the second. Chavarria hooked up with Keith Jackson for a 50-yard TD, and Brandon Mayo broke free for an 80-yard scoring run to make it 14-0 at the break.
Chavarria found Austin Rudloff with an 11-yard TD pass in the third, and Mayo completed the Jackets' scoring with a 2-point conversion run.
Jackson scored Stephenville's other two points on a conversion pass from Chavarria in the first.
In addition to his offensive score, Austin Rudloff highlighted the "Blue" club's defensive effort by picking off three Granbury passes. Josh Olivan added a fourth interception for the Stephenville defense.
Other defensive standouts included Noah Perez and Chris Redmon, while coaches listed Chavarria, Ian Horton, Mitchell Pack and Justin Larremore as offensive standouts.
The eighth grade "Gold" team played Monday against Burleson Kerr and was shutout 24-0 despite fumble recoveries by Tristan Jury and Cole Nugen and an interception by Gerardo Manrriquez.
Other defensive standouts were Kameron Vaughn and Hayden Thompson, while offensive standouts were Colby Stone, Josh Bulla and Christian Alvarado.
