PACE, Fla. ó The No. 13 Tarleton State TexAnns finished fifth overall at their first-ever NCAA Division II Womenís Golf Championships.
The TexAnns finished the tournament 100-over, with a four-day team total of 1252. On Saturday they shot a 312, slipping past North Dakota (1255) after falling into sixth Friday.
Tarleton finished three shots behind No. 9 Drury (+85). No. 1 Florida Southern won the national title by 10 strokes (+36), beating out No. 2 Rollins College (+46).
Freshman Shraddhanjali Singh led the TexAnns, and finished tied for twelfth overall. She was 6-over Saturday, to finish 17-over for the tournament. She had Tarletonís best round, with a 1-under performance Friday.
Kerri Self finished 28-over for the event, and was 7-over Saturday. Like Singh, she birdied hole 10, but was set back by a double bogey on the front nine. Self finished the tournament tied for 29th.
Lauren Martinez finished 8-over Saturday, giving her a total score of 30-over. She had eight bogeys on the tournamentís final day, but was able to avoid any double or triple bogeys and finished 33rd.
Alesha Hurt had the teamís best final day, finishing 3-over Saturday. She had birdies on holes four and seven, and was 31-over for the event. She finished tied for 34th.
Jodi Neal closed out the tournament 39-over, with a 9-over showing Saturday.
Florida Techís Daniela Iacobelli won the individual title, finishing just five strokes over par (293).
