The 2008-09 Hico Lady Tigers traveled further through the playoff bracket than any Hico team over the last decade, but the road came to an abrupt halt when Hico squared off against eventual regional champion Brock at Wisdom Gym Friday.
Brock ended the Lady Tigers' season with a 47-31 victory.
Hico, which finished the year 27-7 overall, struggled offensively early this one.
The Lady Tigers committed four turnovers on their first four possessions and found themselves in a 7-0 hole right off the bat.
Cassi Stegaal finally got the Lady Tigers on the board with a 3-pointer at 3:35 in the first quarter, which turned out to be the only Hico points of the period.
The second quarter turned out to be a much different story as Hico kept the score tight, but missed opportunities, especially at the free throw line.
Brock went on an 8-2 run over the first 6:06, but Hico finished out the quarter with four straight on a pair of free throws by Claudia Zuniga and a Janna Marshall jumper.
At halftime, Hico was 3-19 from the field and 2-8 from the charity stripe, leading to a 19-9 Brock lead.
In the second half, Hico shot better but couldn't keep Brock from draining its buckets.
Brock's Paige Parliament took advantage of her size at 6-0 and posted 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Brock finished the contest with 22 points in the paint, compared to Hico's 12.
Stegall led the Lady Tigers with 12 points, with Cara Finstad tallying 10.
Brock went on the defeat Winnsboro on Saturday to claim the Class 2A Region II title. The Lady Eagles, 30-8 on the year, will represent the region in the next week's state tournament at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin.
