Henderson Junior High’s seventh grade A Honeybees raced to second place in tournament play in Mineral Wells last weekend.

The Bees pummelled Acton 25-20, 25-16 and Cleburne Wheat 25-16, 25-11 in bracket games before falling to Joshua 16-25, 16-25 in the championship.

In pool play action, HJH won four of six sets, sweeping two from Weatherford Tison 15-10, 15-10 and Brewer 16-14, 15-6. The only pool losses by the Bees came in straight sets to Joshua by counts of 9-15, 3-15.

Kelcee Jones amassed 39 points in the tournament. She was followed in scoring by Taylor Woody with 16, Sierra Varnado and Robbi Elliott with 14 each, Cassidy Dickson with 12, Madi McLaury nine, Lyndi Graham eight, Breanna Wooley and Ryleigh Newton with six each and Morgan Gibson with four.
