E-T Staff Report
Two Tarleton State basketball standouts were honored by the Lone Star Conference when the league released its weekly basketball honors Tuesday.
Corin Henry, a senior guard from Randallstown, Md., was named South Division Men's Offensive Player of the Week on the men's side, while Shelby Adamson, a junior guard from Rockwall, earned the same honor on the women's side.
Henry was named MVP of the Texan Tipoff Classic Saturday night after dropping 14 points and dishing out nine assists in the Texans' 83-54 whipping of Newman. He amassed 29 points the previous night, leading Tarleton to an 81-66 win against Texas-Permian Basin.
Henry's efforts helped the Texans improve to 12-0 all-time after the sixth annual classic, hosted each year at Wisdom Gym.
Adamson and the TexAnns had only one contest last week, but they made it count, picking up a 74-64 win over nationally-ranked NAIA Division I member Lubbock Christian. Adamson led the way, pouring in a career-high 26 points on 7-10 shooting from the field and 11-12 shooting from the free-throw line. She also collected four rebounds and a pair of assists.
The Texans were in action Tuesday night (see related story), while the TexAnns had the weekend off.
