SEASIDE, Calif. - Led by Shardhanjali Singh, who shot a tourament record three-below par 70 Tuesday, the Tarleton TexAnn golf team won the 2008 Lady Otter Invitational on a scorecard playoff against the Scandinavian Amatuers.

The TexAnns and the Swedish team both scored 630 in the two-day competition, but Tarleton won on the playoff. Cal State-Monterey Bay finished a close third at 633, 12 strokes ahead of fourth place Cal Baptist University and 32 ahead of fifth place Chico State.

The Scandinavian Amatuers are a group of high school students who are hoping to be recruited by American colleges.

Tarleton, who won the invitational last year and has not lost to a Division II this year, was led by Singh with a 151 (81-70). The sophomore finished second individualy behind high school junior Anjelik Hammar of Sweden who shot an even par 146 to win by five strokes. Andrea Lowe finished third individually with a 154 (77-77) and Melanie Tham finishd 14th with a 162 (81-81). Maury Shock tied for 18th with a 166 (86-80) and Carla Cooper tied for 23rd with a 169 (83-86). Morgan German tied for 35th as an individual medalist with a 175 (88-87).

Tarleton alumnus Joe Priddy is the Bayonet Golf Course Director of Golf and was a teammate of Doyle's on the golf team.

The TexAnns will return to action March 24-25 at the Grand Canyon Invitational at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
