Tonight, Santa loads his sleigh and makes his annual trip around the world spreading holiday cheer to all the good boys and girls.

Now I know the following athletes, coaches and teams have been busy trying to earn the next "W," and probably haven't had much time for sitting on Santa's lap or addressing letters to the North Pole, so I decided to interject myself into the process and write Santa for them.

If Santa can make just a little extra room in the sleigh, here's hoping he and Rudolph and Co. can find a way to deliver at least a few of these special Christmas requests:

Santa, please bring to:

The Stephenville Honeybees - A District 8-4A basketball championship. Come on St. Nick, all we need is at least a split with Timberview. Coach Alan Thorpe and the girls should be able to take it from there.

Tarleton State basketball teams - Lone Star Conference South Division titles. Again, just a little help is all that's necessary because both teams have great talent.

Lonn Reisman - 450 wins (he currently has 443) and many, many more.

Chris Reisman - A beautiful baby point guard to carry on the family tradition (his wife, Mattie, is currently 34 weeks pregnant).

Tarleton State football program - A quarterback as gritty and classy as Scott Grantham.

Garrett Lindholm - The Mitchell Award for best place kicker and a chance to show off his monster leg on Sundays.

Briana Bledsoe - The all-state recognition the senior Honeybee guard truly deserves.

Hico Lady Tigers - A girls basketball region that doesn't include Brock and Peaster. And if that's not possible, can you at least gift wrap a playoff upset or two so that Cara Finstad can complete her career at the state tournament in Austin?

Warren Webb and Larry Petite - Continued progress in their progressive return from knee injuries. Come on Santa, you could kill two birds with one stone here (see earlier request for South Division titles).

Support organizations such as the Stephenville Athletic Booster Club, the Texan Club, the Varsity Mom's and many others - The blessings they deserve in return for all they have done to support the young men and women who represent area schools with pride.

SHS athletics - Please provide the UIL with at least a smidgeon of common sense come realignment time so the Jackets and Bees won't have to pass by 4A schools such as Cleburne and Aledo on their way to district contests in Mansfield and Arlington.

And, of course (yep, I gotta say it)

To the Stephenville Yellow Jackets - A side judge who won't jump the gun and blow an inadvertant whistle when Aledo fumbles a kickoff. All who were in attendance at Cowboys Stadium (even the Bearcat fans) know that case of poor officiating was all that separated the state champ (Aledo) from the area runner-up (Stephenville).

Finally, to our readers - A very merry Christmas, and the knowledge that Jesus truly is the reason for the season.
