KINGSVILLE — The Tarleton State softball team swept a Lone Star Conference doubleheader Friday at Texas A&M-Kingsville, 2-1 and 11-5.

The TexAnns won the first game in eight innings before taking the nightcap in regular fashion.

“We really had a great team effort (Friday),” said Tarleton head coach Julie Matta. “Hannah Hancock came in and got a crucial bunt down after Amy Gabbert got on. Then Samantha Swanda hit her in.

“We really hit the ball well in game two,” Mata said. “Brittany Dumas and Katie Welborn had huge hits, and we played solid defense.”

The two teams played a single game Saturday, and results are available online at tarletonsports.com.
