AUSTIN - The No. 4 Tarleton TexAnn golf team is still undefeated this season when it comes to NCAA Division II opponents, but the University of Texas Junior Varsity golf team edged the TexAnns by three strokes at the St. Edward’s Invitational this week in Austin.

Tarleton, who won their first six tournaments this season, dating back to the fall, shot a two-day total of 652, defeating SEU by 10 strokes after being tied with the Hilltoppers for second after day one. The TexAnns shot 335 on Monday and followed with a 317 on Tuesday. The second day total was one-stroke better than the Longhorns’ 318. UT shot a 331 Monday to win with a 649.

Other Lone Star Conference schools in the mix were No. 7 Northeastern State (356-331=687), No. 12 Cameron (363-350=713) and No. 13 Southwestern Oklahoma State (368-355=723).

Shraddhanjali Singh shot the second day low round with a 74, but her 85 on Monday put her two strokes from of the individual winner, Kristen Davenport of Southwestern (79-78=157). Carla Cooper tied for fifth with a 164 (83-81) and Melanie Tham tied for ninth with a 165 (83-82). Also playing for the TexAnns was Maury Shock (90-80=170) and Andrea Lowe (84-89=173). Morgan German played as an individual and shot a 176 (88-88).

Tarleton will return to action at the Red River Collegiate Tournament at Thackerville, Okla. at the Winstar Golf Club on March 10-11.
