It’s playoff time in Class 4A girls soccer, and the Stephenville Honeybees are set to battle Azle in the bi-district round.

Kickoff is 6 p.m. Friday in Burleson. The Yellow Jackets will follow the Bees at 8 p.m. (See HS Boys Soccer, same page)

Stephenville coach Casey Weil has seen Azle play twice, and says the Lady Hornets’ size and speed concerns him.

“They are big and fast,” said Weil, “but they really only have three or four girls who you have to focus on stopping. They have one real pure goal scorer, and they depend on her a lot.”

Weil is confident in the Honeybee defense, and says the team has been focusing primarily on its offensive attack in preparation for the post-season.

“We’ve had trouble finishing up front,” Weil said, “but that’s what we’ve been working on a lot this last week in practice. I think we’ll be ok.”

Stephenville is the No. 2 seed from District 8-4A, while Azle is the No. 3 seed out of 7-4A. The winner faces District 5 champ Keller Fossil Ridge in the area playoffs next week.
