Lingleville will spend the Thanksgiving holiday being thankful for the instant offense of junior guard Nery Suarez.

Suarez amassed 30 points Monday and 27 Tuesday, pacing Lingleville to an easy victory over Gordon and a hard-fought win against Santo.

The Cardinals ripped Gordon 86-19 Monday and edged Santo 66-59 Tuesday, when Suarez drained six 3-point bombs.

Second-year Lingleville head coach Jance Morris says his team is clearly a couple steps ahead of where it was this time last year.

"Early last year we would have lost our composure and given that one way," Morris said of the victory over Santo. "It's good to be in a tough game like that and come out with a win. It gives you confidence going forward."

The Cards held on for the win early this year because Suarez got big scoring help from Juan Huerta with 13 and Robert Van Kranenburg with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Van Kranenburg, a freshman, poured in 18 points Monday.

Like other area teams, Lingleville is off the rest of the week. The Cards return to action Tuesday when they host Gorman.
