Stephenville’s gyms stayed full of activity this week, as future Yellow Jackets and Honeybees - and prospective Tarleton State TexAnns - worked to improve their respective games.

Nearly 100 boys turned out for the Yellow Jacket basketball camp at Stephenville High School this week, while a total of 115 girls packed Henderson Junior High School for Honeybee volleyball camp. Tarleton’s Wisdom Gym was buzzing too, as the first of two volleyball camps came to a close this week.

As Yellow Jackets head coach Mike Dacus noted, the camps allow coaches to help players hone their fundamentals. The ultimate goal, though, is for players to “develop an appreciation and love of the game,” he said. After all, success on any playing field comes from lasting effort and dedication over time, which trump week-long camps every time.
