Henderson Junior High’s seventh grade girls track and field team won three individual events and a relay on its way to finishing third in its home meet sponsored by the Optimist Club Thursday.
The 4x400m team of Hannah Mabry, Mikayla Hobbs, Skylar Basham and Bayleigh Chaviers closed the competition with a bang, as they won the event in a time of 4 minutes, 31 seconds.
The other victories by the Honeybees came from Mabry in the 100m dash (13.81 seconds), Chaviers in the 800m run (2 minutes, 28.90 seconds) and Kourtney Seaton in the discus (78 feet, 9.5 inches).
In the other relay events, the team of Mabry, Hobbs, Ali Thorpe and Codi Beyer placed second in the 4x100m in 55.45 seconds, while Kaleigh Conger, Cristina Castillo, Gillian Hernandez and Thorpe were fifth in the 4x200m in 2:06.70.
Hobbs was second in the 300m hurdles in 54.43 seconds, while Chaviers was second in the 200m in 28.08.
Basham was third and Cheyanne Tuggle fourth in the 400m in near identical times of 1:09.10 and 1:09.20, while Basham and Shelby Wood were third and sixth, respectively, in the 800 with times of 2:41.20 and 2:48.80.
Conger tied for fifth in the high jump, clearing four feet.
