arleton (22-5, 9-3) lost for the third time in its last six contests on Saturday, resulting in a five-spot drop in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll.

The Texans worked their way to a season-best No. 12 in the poll two weeks ago, fell four spots to No. 16 last week before another weekend road loss caused the most recent drop.

Tarleton finished second in the Lone Star Conference South Division behind West Texas A&M. The Buffaloes jumped to No. 19 on the new national list.

No other Lone Star Conference teams cracked the Top 25, but one other school from outside the South Central Region did make the cut, as Southwest Baptist moved up to No. 15.

The top six in the poll remain unchanged. Bentley is still No. 1, followed by Grand Valley State, the only other undefeated team in Division II, at No. 2. Winona State, Northern State and South Carolina - Aiken round out the top five, followed by Drury at No. 6.
