Keller junior guard Morgan McGinnis forced overtime with a layup late in regulation, then had three steals and a pair of free throws in the extra period to lift her team past Stephenville (2-2) 44-42 at Gandy Gym Tuesday night.

Keller took its largest lead at 35-30 when McGinnis, who had eight points, stole the ball and hit a layin 35 seconds into the fourth quarter, but Stephenville answered quickly.

Gaby Lazarine, who tallied 11 for Stephenville, scored inside off an assist from Alex Huckabay, and Sheridan Stokes drained a 3-ball from the left wing on the Bees' next possession to knot it up at 35-35 with 5:10 to go.

The Bees took their first lead of the fourth when Stokes, who led the team with 12 points including 10 in the fourth and overtime, converted a pass from Kensie Colegrove into an easy layup.

Keller regained a momentary advantage before Stokes struck again from deep at the 3:21 mark, putting Stephenville on top 40-38.

McGinnis tied it with 1:12 to play and neither team scored the rest of regulation. She then began the overtime scoring at the 2:16 mark.

Stokes had another answer 13 seconds, later, draining a long two make it 42-42 with 2:03 left, but those would prove to be Stephenville's final points of the night.

McGinnis ended the Bees' next two possessions with steals at the 51 and 23-second marks, and the 5A Lady Indians finally turned one of Stephenville's giveaways into points when Lindsey Miner took an assist from Taylor Vincent and hit an uncontested layup with 11 seconds to go.

Stephenville called a timeout and tried to set up a final play, but the Bees lost possession in the front court and couldn't regroup in time to get a shot off.

Things looked good early on for the Bees, who jumped on top 8-0 before Keller finally got on the board more than four minutes into the game.

Stephenville led 12-4 after one, but Keller began the second with an 8-0 run of its own powered by two 3-balls from Taylor Vincent. The junior forward led all scorers with 16.

Stokes drained one from the left elbow to put Stephenville on top 14-12, and the advantage went back and forth until a layup by Vincent put the Lady Indians on top 20-19. They scored again before the Bees' Dani Huckabee hit one of two free throws with one second remaining to make it 22-20 Keller at the break.

The Bees scored five straight early in the third on a layup by Colegrove and a 3-ball by Alex Huckabee to take a 27-24 edge, and the lead continued to see-saw back-and-forth.

A 3-point basket by Keller's Stehanie Gilbert made it 33-30 and the score held for the rest of the third, setting up the intense fourth quarter and overtime.

Other scorers for Stephenville included Colegrove and Dani Huckabee with six each, Kyndra Schouten and Alex Huckabee with three each and Breyana Diaz with two.
