Two wins and a loss netted Stephenville’s JV boys basketball team a third-place finish in the Glen Rose JV tournament last weekend.

Stephenville jumped out to a 16-2 first quarter lead and never looked back in drilling Glen Rose 59-43 in the opening round.

In the semifinals, Stephenville rallied furiously in the fourth quarter but came up on the short end of a 56-49 final against Waco. The Yellow Jackets were down 48-33 after three before outscoring the Lions 16-8 in the fourth.

Another late rally produced a win in the third-place game as Stephenville overcame a 31-28 deficit after three periods by outscoring Kennedale 18-10 in the fourth for a 46-41 win.

The Jackets (3-3) return to the court in the Mineral Wells tourney this weekend. They are slated to begin play at 1 p.m. Thursday against the host Rams.

Team members include Gabe Barrios, Ben Copeland, Brayden Coverdale, Casey Dawson, Jared Goff, Tyler Jones, Arbnor Kelmendi, Cody Miller, Justin Miller, Michael Ruiz and Stetson Sullivan.
