E-T Staff Report
After moving into fifth all-time in career digs at Tarleton, Missy Castro has been named co-defensive player of the week by Lone Star Conference officials.
Castro, a senior outside hitter from Azle, recorded 22 digs as part of her big week that helped Tarleton go 2-0 against LSC foes, improving their conference record to 3-1 and their overall mark to 11-6.
Castro now has 934 career digs. She passed former TexAnn Angela Spradley on the career list during Thursday’s 3-1 victory at Texas A&M-Commerce. Spradley posted 911 digs for Tarleton from 1991-93.
The senior does a lot more than just make digs for the TexAnns, however. She is also Tarleton’s leading hitter this season. She had 10 kills and 13 digs for a dobule-double in a 3-0 sweep of Texas Woman’s Saturday, after tallying 10 kills and 9 digs in Commerce on Thursday.
Castro and the TexAnns travel to Fort Worth today for a 5 p.m. non-conference match-up against Texas Wesleyan.
