Presley Wall won first place and Emily Kirbo and Amiah Rodriguez finished third and fourth in the varsity girls division to lead the Stephenville Honeybees to the team title Wednesday morning in the Keene Invitational cross country meet.

The Bees finished 30 points ahead of runner-up Godley. The SHS junior varsity Honeybees also won their division.

“These girls killed it! I’m so proud of all of them,” SHS cross country coach Kristi Mayes stated.

In the varsity boys division, the Yellow Jackets finished second in the team standings, just 11 points behind Hillsboro.

Christian Brown and Luis Carrillo, competing for the SHS varsity boys, finished fourth and fifth overall, respectively.

Wall won with a time of 11:56.51 to take the girls 3,200-meter race. Kirbo was third with a 12:21.94, followed by Rodriguez at 12:26.39.

Monica Flores took 15th place with a time of 13:08.67, while Anahi Rivas was 22nd at 13:28.69.

Brown’s fourth-place time in the boys 5,000-meter event was 17:37.06. Carrillo’s fifth-place time was 17:37.68.

Next for the Jackets was Daniel Osornio, 20th at 19:00.39; Angel Luna 34th (19:37.58); and Seth Garza, 39th (19:57.09).

The SHS boys and girls will compete Friday, Sept. 14, in the Cleburne Invitational, where they will move up to a division for larger schools.
