The Stephenville Honeybees placed fourth and the SHS boys were ninth Friday morning in the varsity division of the Kennedale Wildcat Run cross country meet to open their 2018 season.

Emily Kirbo paced the Honeybees, finishing sixth in the varsity girls division, and Christian Brown was ninth among the varsity boys at the meet.

The varsity Honeybees were just nine points short of taking second place in the team standings in the 5A/6A division they were entered in.

The SHS varsity boys were entered in the division for Class 5A and under, and finished in ninth place in the team standings.

Following Kirbo’s sixth-place finish, teammates Presley Wall was eighth and Amiah Rodriguez was ninth.

The SHS boys were fourth place in the junior varsity division, with Luis Carrillo winning first place. Teammate Angel Luna finished 11th.

The SHS JV girls placed third in their division, led by Daisy Richards and Kass Nowak.

Next for the SHS boys and girls will be the Keene Invitational, this Friday starting at 9 a.m.
