The Stephenville High School girls golf team qualified for a trip to the Region I-4A tournament by taking second place in the District 8-4A competition held April 2-3 at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose.

The SHS boys finished one spot out of regional qualifying position, in third place in their division.

The Honeybees were paced by Allee Mainord, who shot 82 the first day and 83 the second day for a team-leading and third-place overall score of 165.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Kendall Roberts, who posted a 76 followed by an 84, for a 160 total.

The top 10 overall finishers earned all-district honors, which included Allee Mainord (third), Alexis Graham (eighth) and Taylor Harpole (ninth) on the girls side and Kendall Roberts (seventh place) for the SHS boys.

Also for the SHS girls for the team score: Alexis Graham 97-89—186; Taylor Harpole 95-94—189; Maycee Decker 101-94—195; and Madisyn Grimes 93-106—199. Also, competing as individual medalists for SHS were: Kylie Roberts 104-96—200; and Tatum Dobson 115-97—212.

The four other Jackets who contributed to the boys team score were: Grayson Traweek 86-87—173; Rosser Orr 90-90—180; Hunter Rudloff 89-97—188; and Justin Cockerell 101-95—196.

The Honeybees will play in the regional tournament April 25-26 at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock.

Heritage won the girls team title with 688, while the Honeybees finished at 727. Third went to Glen Rose, at 773.

Heritage won the boys team title with a 612. Godley’s 671 was good for second to also qualify for the regional event, while Stephenville posted a third-place total of 697.
