Four Stephenville High School varsity entries reached the second round in the District 8-4A tennis tournament, held April 5-6 at Midlothian Heritage High School.

Ashton Garner won her opening match in girls singles for the Honeybees, as did the SHS girls doubles team Stephens/Russell and the mixed doubles teams of Ryan Donham/Salette Rios and Stufflebean/Lucy Tackett.

The Yellow Jackets and the Honeybees tennis teams were coached by Fran Metzger, the longtime successful volleyball coach who is retiring at the end of the current school year.

Boys doubles — Baker/Burguard, Alvarado, def. Dylan Jones/Silvario Vasquez, SHS, 6-1, 6-2.
