The Stephenville Yellow Jackets exploded for eight runs in the top of the fourth inning and Derek Gifford and Clay Krause drove in three runs each on the way to a 13-1 District 8-4A baseball road victory at Venus.

Mason Castleberry earned the victory for SHS on the mound, going five innings and allowing just three hits. He struck out five and walked only one.

The game ended on the 10-run mercy rule at the end of the fifth inning.

Krause notched a double and a triple, and Gifford clubbed a triple.

Kade Averhoff, Gifford, and Krause had two hits apiece.

It was the Jackets’ fourth win in their last five games as they improved to 9-11-2 on the season.

They play at home tonight against Midlothian Heritage. Their next game will be Friday at Alvarado (7:30 p.m.).
