A two-run single brought in the tying and winning runs in the top of the sixth inning Tuesday night in Stephenville’s 3-2 District 8-4A baseball loss to Glen Rose at home.

The Jackets had held a 1-0 lead since the bottom of the second inning. Glen Rose tied it at 1-all with a run in the fourth but the Jackets regained the edge, 2-1, with a run in the bottom of the frame. Then the Tigers picked up the tying and winning runs in the top of the sixth.

Both teams struggled to put together much of an offensive attack, with Glen Rose out-hitting SHS 3-2. The Jackets hurt themselves with three fielding errors.

Mason Castleberry recorded one RBI for the Jackets. Derek Gifford and Kade Averhoff notched the only two hits for SHS.

Daniel Luna started on the mound for SHS, striking out six and walking four in three innings.

The loss dropped the Jackets to 2-4 in district and 8-11-2 on the season. Their next game will be at home Tuesday, taking on Midlothian Heritage starting at 7:30 p.m.
