The Stephenville girls and boys track teams swept the varsity and junior varsity divisions in the Tiger Relays held Thursday at Glen Rose High School.

In the girls division, the SHS girls ran away with the team title with 240 points while runner-up Glen Rose had 171.5.

The Yellow Jackets won the varsity boys division by one point, with 147, while Southwest Christian High School had 146.

Stephenville’s JV girls had a winning total of 166 points, while Benbrook was second with 157 and Glen Rose was third at 146.

In the JV boys division, SHS won easily with 228 points, while runner-up Glen Rose had 153 and Benbrook was third with 113.

For the varsity Honeybees, first-place medals were earned by Emily Kirbo in the 1,600-meter run, Bailey McBee in the 100 hurdles, Payton Wall in the 300 hurdles, and Jordan Self in the discus. Also, the SHS girls 1,600-meter relay team of Alee McClendon, Amber Walker, Wall and Kristen Pettit won first place.

Self, Alyssa Northcutt and Taylor Carter swept the top three places in the girls discus.

Stephenville’s Blake Aragon, the defending Class 4A boys state champion in the high jump, won the event in Glen Rose with a height of 6-2 and teammate Kyle Lindsey was runner-up at 5-10.

Zane Walker of SHS won the boys discus with an effort of 126 feet, 11 inches.

Caden Cowan won the boys pole vault for the Yellow Jackets with a height of 5-10.

The Jackets won the boys 800-meter relay as Lindsey, Cole Pettit, Calvin Darby, Pacen Parker posted a time of 1:33.52.

Tomorrow (Thursday, March 28), the SHS girls and boys teams will be hosting the Stephenville Optimist Relays at Lem Brock Field.

The District 8-4A meet is set for April 4-5 at Heritage High School in Midlothian.
