Jettie Funderburgh poked a run-scoring single in the fifth inning that turned out to be the winning run Friday in Stephenville’s 3-2 District 8-4A softball triumph over Godley on the road.
Morgan DiCiccio had a hot bat, goina 3-for-4 and driving in a run for the Honeybees, who improved to 15-9-1 overall and 4-1 in district.
Julia Flores, who pitched the full seven innings, contributed two hits in four at-bats.
Samantha Luna also drove in a run for the Honeybees. She had a hit, as did Bianka Garcia and Jessica Ebeling.
SHS out-hit the Lady Wildcats 9-4.
Both of Godley’s runs were unearned, as the Honeybees were charged with four fielding errors.
Flores struck out four and walked none.
Stephenville gained a 1-0 lead in the top of the third and stretched it to 2-0 in the fourth. But Godley came up with a pair of runs in the fourth to make it 2-2.
The Honeybees will play their next home at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, against Glen Rose.
