The Stephenville Yellow Jackets dropped their second District 8-4A baseball contest in as many outings, by a 6-4 count at Midlothian Heritage.
The Jackets held a 3-0 advantage after batting in the top of the first inning, but quickly saw the lead slip away. Heritage scored one run in the bottom of the first, and went on top 4-3 with three in the third.
The Jaguars tacked on one in the fourth and one in the fifth.
The only other run for the Jackets came in the seventh.
Stephenville out-hit the Jaguars 8-7 overall.
Derek Gifford had a double and drove in two runs for the Jackets. Gabe Moore and Trevor Easter drove in the other two SHS runs. Easter went 2-for-2 at the plate.
Starting pitcher Mason Castleberry worked the first two innings for SHS and took the loss. He gave up four runs (three earned), struck out three and walked four.
Reliever Caleb Smith pitched the final four innings, allowing two runs, both unearned. He struck out two and walked three.
The Jackets are set to play Tuesday (tonight) at home against Alvarado. Their next game will be Friday at Godley (7:30 p.m.).
Stephenville is 5-8-2 on the season, and 0-2 in league play.
