Stephenville High School’s two qualifiers in Class 4A girls state powerlifting meet both placed among the top eight in their weight classes Saturday at the Extraco Events Center in Waco.
Jessica Ebeling and Blaine Gluck placed fifth and eighth in their respective weight classes.
Ebeling competed in the 198-pound class, while Gluck was in the 105-pound division.
“We are so proud of these girls,” SHS powerlifting coach Eric Rivas stated. “They both had their best performances of the year at the state meet and represented Stephenville well. I don’t think there is much more you could ask for as a coach.”
Ebeling lifted a total of 955 pounds. She recorded lifts of 410 in squat, 195 in bench press and 355 in deadlift.
Gluck totaled 665 pounds on the day. She had 265 in squat, 120 in bench press and 280 in deadlift.
Gluck and Ebeling had advanced to the state meet because of their success at the regional meet that was held March 3 in Temple. Ebeling won the regional championship in her division, and Gluck took second place.
