Tarleton was certainly on the bubble after coming into the LSC Championship Tournament as the No. 9 seed in the region and coming up short in their bid for an automatic berth, but two more high-quality wins this weekend were enough to move Tarleton into the No. 8 seed of the regional tournament.
Tarleton will head to Lubbock and square off with the region's top-seeded team, Lubbock Christian, in a rematch from earlier this season.
This is the eighth NCAA tournament appearance for the TexAnns in program history and the second straight tournament berth for head coach Misty Wilson's team. Tarleton enters the national tournament with a 20-11 record this season, the first 20-win season of Misty Wilson's career.
Eight regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, begin play on March 9 and play through March 12. The regional champions then head to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Elite Eight. Play tips off in the quarterfinals on Monday, March 19 and concludes with the championship game on Friday, March 23.
The winner of Lubbock Christian and Tarleton will advance to the regional semifinals against the winner of Angelo State and Black Hills State. On the other side of the bracket awaits West Texas A&M, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Colorado State-Pueblo, and Metro State.
Details regarding ticket information and game times will be released throughout the week. Stay tuned to TarletonSports.com for more details.
