With only three seasons as a head baseball coach behind him, Justin Swenson was pleasantly surprised when he was selected to coach in the Big Country Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Festival this June.

Swenson was named as the head coach of the North all-stars, and Jamie Seago of Hawley was chosen as the assistant coach. The South all-stars will be coached by Chance Evans of Wichita Falls and Tyler Talley of Comanche.

Dublin has several representatives among the coaches named to the various FCA All-Star Festival games.

Will Parker of Dublin will be the head coach for the North all-star boys basketball team in that game.

Greg Hardcastle of Dublin was named as one of the football all-star game coaches, as an assistant with the Red Team under head coach Kyle Maxfield of Brownwood.

Also from Dublin, Jason Clark will be the assistant to Abby Ramos of Eldorado for the South all-star team in the softball contest.

Swenson said that his assistant, has been coaching high school baseball for 21 years.

“Being a third-year coach, you don’t expect an honor like that,” said Swenson, who led his Yellow Jackets to the third round of the Class 4A baseball playoffs last year and finished with a 23-9-2 season record. “I was very surprised. It’s a humbling experience, any time you get to play or coach in an all-star game.”

The all-star baseball game will be played at Angelo State University’s stadium in San Angelo on Saturday, June 9.
