The Stephenville Parks and Recreation Department won another Gold Member City Award recently at the T.A.A.F 2017 State Conference held in Killeen.
The award is presented to cities that have been able to further their Athletic Programs and T.A.A.F by showing significant increased participation, show willingness to host Regional and State tournaments, as well as other criteria set by T.A.A.F.
Along with the award, SPARD won the bids to host five state tournaments starting in May 2018 with the T.A.A.F Adult Co-Rec Volleyball State Tournament.
SPARD will also play host to four other state tournaments that include youth volleyball and kickballand two others coming by way of TTA with the boys 10U baseball and the girls 12U softball state tournaments.
Interim Community Services Director Jesus Coronado said, “The SPARD staff has done a great job putting us in a position to be able to host all these tournaments in our city, and we are excited about it. Not only do these tournaments bring in visitors and generate great revenue for our city but it also puts the spotlight on Stephenville and its community as a whole.”
