COLLEGE STATION - Tarleton men's basketball fell in in an exhibition game to NCAA Division I No. 25 Texas A&M 72-46 on Friday night at Reed Arena.

"We are disappointed," said head coach Lonn Reisman. "We're out of sync right now. We're a young team. You can tell we're out of sync. There were some positives out there tonight with it being 40-39 (Texas A&M) on the boards. I thought we battled on the boards well with them. We just didn't shoot the ball well tonight at all."

It's the second time the Texans have faced the Aggies, with the first meeting coming almost 10 years ago this week on Nov. 5, 2007 with the Aggies winning 71-62.

Tarleton shot 26 percent from the floor and had 17 turnovers in the game, compared to Texas A&M's 46 percent shooting to 12 turnovers. The two starting guards for the Texans, Corinthian Ramsey and Deshawn Riddick, led the team with 11 points.

The Texans held their own in the opening portions of the first half with Jaraan Lands' jumper and Deshawn Riddick's 3-pointer tied the game at 6-6 after the first three minutes of the game.

After the Aggies took a 13-6 lead, the Texans went on a 5-0 run on a bucket from Anthony Davis and a 3-pointer from Ryan Birt to cut the lead to 13-11. The score remained a two-point game after Ramsey drove the lane for a layup to make it 17-15 with 7:43 left in the first half.

The turning point in the game was the Aggies' 17-0 run over the next six minutes to build a double-digit lead and take a 34-19 lead into the half.

Clashon Gaffney had the highlight play of the game for the Texans with a put-back two-hand dunk over an Aggie defender that made it a 44-27 game. Gaffney also grabbed three rebounds and blocked a shot in his first collegiate game.

Tarleton had a 9-0 scoring run in the final minutes of the second half, led by a 3-pointer by Ramsey, a pair of layups from Davis and free throws from Riddick.

Davis had eight points and four rebounds, while Lands added seven points and seven rebounds in starting roles. Josh Hawley, the fifth Texan starter, added four points, five rebounds, and two blocks.

Tarleton will open the regular season against Metro State for the annual Texan Tip-Off Classic on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
