Stephenville High School's varsity girls basketball squad is preparing for its first scrimmage, which will be Thursday at Cleburne, head coach Alan Thorpe said.

Thursday’s scrimmage is set for a 5 p.m. tipoff.

The Honeybees began practice on Oct. 18, along with all of the other girls teams in the state.

Last season they advanced all the way to the Region I-4A semifinals as the state’s 10th-ranked team before losing to seventh-ranked Levelland, 57-47.

Thorpe’s squad finished with a 27-8 record, including a 10-2 mark in District 8-4A.

The first regular-season game for the Honeybees will be Nov. 7, at home against Millsap.
