Stephenville will be competing in the Division II Texas 7 on 7 football state championship tournament starting Thursday at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.

Stephenville qualified for the Division II tournament in late May at a State Qualifying Tournament in Gatesville.

Pool play win-loss records will determine whether each school moves into the championship bracket or consolation bracket to be played Friday, also in College Station.

Stephenville is in Pool P with Falls City, Melissa and Navasota.

Thursday, Stephenville is scheduled to play three pool games — vs. Navasota at 2 p.m.; Melissa at 4 p.m. and Falls City at 6 p.m.

The top two teams in each of the 16 pools advance to the championship bracket Friday (starting at 9 a.m.) and the third- and fourth-place teams move into the consolation bracket (starting at 8 a.m.).

Both the Division I (Class 5A and 6A schools, plus TAPPS Division I) and Division II (Class 4A and below, including all other private schools) have 64 qualified entries.
