A pair of Tarleton State University rodeo athletes moved closer to the finals of the 69th annual College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) with their Thursday performances.
Bareback rider Kody Lamb eased into fifth place with a 71.5-point ride on bronc Silver Creek Zebra. Lamb’s score was the second best of Thursday’s bareback section, trailing only a 77 from Layne Graham of Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College.
Baili Collins captured fourth place in goat tying with her 6.4-second run Thursday. Collins, the regular season event champion in the Southwest Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association carries a 19.5 time on three head.
The top 12 qualifiers in each event earn spots in Saturday’s championship finals.
Two Tarleton competitors are on the schedule for today’s final qualifying round. Tie-down roper Kyle Parrish and breakaway roper Lauran Bane represent the Purple and white tonight.
