DESDEMONA — Moody B. Koonce, 81, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at St. Joe Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Burial will follow in the Desdemona Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Nowlin Funeral Home.
M.B. was born to William Newton Koonce and Laurie Annie Jeffery on Sept. 25, 1926. He was born and raised in Desdemona, where he met and married Hazel Dell Riggs on Oct. 12, 1946. M.B. was a member of the St. Joe Baptist Church, as well as a son, brother, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving the US Navy as Fireman First Class. M.B. was a farmer and rancher, and most importantly, a godly man whose influence touched many lives.
M.B. was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Willie Koonce Brazil, Benjamin Otis Koonce, Era Koonce Riley, Vera Koonce Brown, Zollie Lee Koonce, Robert Coy Koonce, Jim Koonce, Clyde Koonce, and W.D. Koonce.
Survivors include son, Rickey Koonce and wife, Debbie, of Morgan Mill; daughter-in-law, Tenia Koonce; three granddaughters, Christal Koonce Cogburn and husband, Toby, Courtney Koonce, and Chandra Koonce; and two great-grandsons, Zachary and Tyler Cogburn, all of Desdemona.
