STEPHENVILLE — Virgil Martin Edwards, Sr., 75, a retired mail carrier, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Harris Methodist Hospital Erath County.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leslie Dunn officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at Lacy Funeral Home.

He was born on June 21, 1933 to the late Sherman and Annie (Martin) Edwards in Ft. Worth, Texas. He married Dorothy Jean Dunn on December 1, 1959, in Ranger, Texas.
He was a member of the New Bethel CME Church where he served as a steward and a trustee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW, American Legion and he was an Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jean Edwards of Stephenville, Texas; two daughters, An and husband Lamont Jones of Stephenville, Texas, Mechelle Edwards of Stephenville, Texas; three sons, Virgil Edwards, Jr. and wife Deloise of Arlington, Texas, Sherman L. Edwards and wife Thetis of Stephenville, Texas and Bernard Edwards of Clifton, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Dominique Edwards, Antuane Edwards, Vinicia Edwards, Shawntae, Gregory, II and Krystal Dillard, Shaquille Travis, Markeshia and Ashley Edwards, Adrion and Ai’avion Edwards; four great grandchildren, Kaydon Braum, Amellya Dillard, Brylon and Mikena Williams.
