Edwin (Ed) Pettitt
HICO — Edwin (Ed) Pettitt, Jr., 64, passed away suddenly Friday, Feb. 29, 2008.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, at his home in Hico (206 Hickory St.).
Ed was born on March 14, 1943, in Coffeyville, Kan., to Ed and Lynna Pettitt. He played football on scholarship at the University of Washington, Sul Ross State University, and Tarleton State University, where he graduated with a Bachelors, and later a Masters in Education. Ed was an inductee in the Tarleton State Athletic Hall of Fame. He played professional football with the Dallas Cowboys, and coached high school, college, and semi-pro teams.
Ed was an avid sportsman, entrepreneur, and educator at many levels. He was active in his community, currently serving as City Councilman for the City of Hico. Ed loved and adored his family with an abiding faith in the Lord. He will be remembered for his honor, unselfish disposition, and genuine love of life.
His family, friends, former students and teammates in life will dearly miss him.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Pettitt.
Survivors include wife, Lisa Pettitt; daughters, Samantha DeMont and husband, Chris, of Eureka, Calif., Courtney Pettitt of Austin; stepdaughter, Joanna Winchenbach of Hico, son Joshua Pettitt of Granbury; grandchildren, Brooklynn Pettitt and Lucas DeMont; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
