DUBLIN - Carl Dean (Turk) Derrick, 79, a retired dairyman, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Harrell Memorial Chapel with Chaplain JoAnn Guest officiating. Burial will follow at Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Harrell Funeral Home.
Carl was born March 23, 1931 in Erath County to Frank Hamilton Derrick, Sr. and Mattie Thursa (Jordon) Derrick. He was united in marriage to Nita Merle Morris on April 1, 1954 in Stephenville and had three children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nita, on Dec. 25, 2005, and his son, Adam, on Sept. 2, 2003.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Becky and Wayne Beverly of Dublin and Thresia Derrick of Stephenville; granddaughters and their husbands, Bobby and Charley York of Morgan Mill, Glenda Beverly of Tolar and Bonnie and Chris Kim of Georgetown. his grandson and his wife, Wayne W. and Tasha Beverly of El Paso; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Electra Harper of Stephenville, Elizabeth Derrick of Stephenville and Opal Whisenant of Dublin; brother and sister-in-law, Frank H. Derrick, Jr. and Margie Derrick of Stephenville; and numerous other relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Carl served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Dublin Cowboy Church.
