HICO Opal Belle Cole, 89, died May 14, 2008 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Rutledge-Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday evening at Rutledge-Jones Funeral Home.

Ms. Cole was born on May 8, 1919, in Hamilton County to Samuel and Annie Brewer. She married Robert (Rob) Cole on July 11, 1936, in Hamilton. She lived her whole life in Hamilton County and was a member of the Providence Baptist Church. Opal worked as a clerk behind the soda fountain at Howard Drug Store in Hico for many years. She was an active member of the Providence Piecemakers Quilting Club.

Ms. Cole was preceded in death by her husband, Rob Cole; her parents; brother, Wilbur Richard Brewer and two sisters, Syble Loraine Golden and Lila Fay.

Survivors include brother, Orval Dean Brewer of Snyder and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
